Three California Natives to play in Rochester For The 2018 Season.
(Rochester, Minn.) – The Rochester Honkers have announced the signing of Nathan Webb, Matt Hardy, and Kevin West, all from the University of California Riverside.
Webb is a 5-10, 200-pound freshman utility man from Riverside, Calif. He started off the 2018 season swinging a hot bat, hitting .364 over the first four games. He’s 4 for 11 at the plate, with three of those hits being extra bases and one RBI. Webb attended Martin Luther King High School, where he was a three-time all-league selection.
Hardy is a junior outfielder and right-handed pitcher, standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 210 pounds. He currently has made two appearances on the 2018 season, striking out one in 0.1 innings of work. During his sophomore season, the Riverside native hit .209 over the course of 86 at-bats, with three home runs and 10 RBIs. On the mound, Hardy made 11 appearances with two starts. He produced a 5.79 ERA and fanned 14 batters over 18 2/3 innings. At La Sierra High School, Hardy was a three-time all-league selection.
West, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound sophomore right-handed pitcher has thrown 1 2/3 innings this season. He surrendered four hits and four runs. Over the course of his freshman season, the Riverside native threw 16 2/3 innings over 13 appearances and posted a 5.40 ERA. West gave up 17 runs but just 10 were earned. He made four starts. West also attended Martin Luther King High School where he was a three time letter winner. At UC Riverside, West is a sociology major.
UC Riverside (2-2) continues play this weekend in Seattle, Wash for a four-game set at the University of Washington starting on Friday, February 23.
