Stanford Product Entered College a Year Early

(Rochester, Minn.) –  The Rochester Honkers have announced the signing of Christian Robinson, a freshman from Stanford University.

Robinson is a 6-foot-3, 210-pound outfielder from Melbourne, Fla. Robinson was selected in the 27th round in the 2017 MLB draft by the San Diego Padres out of Viera High School. He was a first team All-Region selection and a second team All-American by Perfect Game. Robinson holds the Viera High School career home run record and led them to two district championships. He participated in the prestigious Team USA Tournament of Stars.  Robinson got reclassified as a junior in 2016 so the he’d graduate and take the next step in his baseball career a year earlier.

Robinson go this first collegiate at bat Sunday in the 9th inning, with Stanford leading Texas 11-1.  He struck out looking on a 3-2 count.

The 14-2 Stanford Cardinals are currently ranked 7th in the country according to NCAA.com.  They host the University of Southern California (USC) this weekend for a three-game series starting on Friday.
