Honkers sign Lourdes High School Alumni, Michael Brandt from Augustana University.

(Rochester, Minn.) –  The Rochester Honkers have announced the signing of pitcher Michael Brandt, a 2014 graduate from Rochester Lourdes High School.

Brandt is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed pitcher from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D.  This season, the junior has been dominant on the mound. He has made four relief appearances, throwing five innings, allowing no runs, with 12 strikeouts and one save. Batters are only hitting .167 against him.

During Brandt’s sophomore season, he recorded a 1.98 ERA over 13 2/3 innings. He struck out 17 with six walks in six appearances.

At Lourdes High School, Brandt was a two-time All-Conference honoree. He pitched 45 2/3 innings as a senior, posting a 5-2 record, and hit .407 with 16 RBIs.  As a junior, Brandt posted a 1.07 ERA and struck out 47.

Augustana (9-0) is currently ranked 12th in Division II according to NCAA.com. They host Morningside Thursday for a double header, and open NISC Conference play Saturday at home versus Northern State in back-to-back double headers Saturday and Sunday.
