Hardy crushes two homers.

(Rochester Minn.) – Major League Baseball has officially kicked off and that means we are that much closer to the summer. Here is how some future Honkers performed in the past week.

Ray Soderman (C) – Oregon (16-11)
Ray Soderman swung a hot bat for the Ducks hitting .411 and driving in four. He had a career high three hits against Stanford and hit his first home run of the season against San Francisco. Soderman was hitting .224 on March 18, but thanks to a hot streak he is now batting .291. He has 10 RBIs and has come around to score nine times. Oregon hosts Washington State for a three-game series Friday.

Eddie Mathis (LHP) – Bellarmine (20-8)
Eddie Mathis earned his first Great Lakes Valley Conference pitcher of the week award after his performance at Indianapolis. He tossed eight shutout innings leading Bellarmine to a 5-2 win. He struck out 10 and allowed just three hits. He is now 4-0 in his last five starts. Mathis has a stellar 2.13 ERA and leads his team in innings pitched (42 1/3) and strikeouts (51). Bellarmine continues play Wednesday at Lincoln Memorial University.

Nathan Webb (INF) – UC Riverside (12-11)
Nathan Webb proved to be a tough out in a three-game series against UC Davis. He hit .500 and had a career high four hits, including two doubles to open the series. The freshman drove in two runs and came around to score three times. Webb is hitting .238 and has scored 12 runs. UC Riverside hosts California State University, Northridge for a three game series beginning Friday.

Darin Kilfoyl (RHP) – Saint Johns River State (26-11)
Darin Kilfoyl made two starts during the week for the Vikings. He threw 9 1/3 innings surrendering just one run and striking out two. He was flawless in his start against Florida State College at Jacksonville, he tossed 5 1/3 innings without giving up a hit or a walk. Kilfoyl has a 2-2 record and a 2.86 ERA over 28 1/3 innings pitched. Saint Johns River State hosts Florida State College at Jacksonville Wednesday.

Matt Hardy (OF) – UC Riverside (12-11)
Matt Hardy served as a big time run producer for the Highlanders. The junior launched two home runs and drove in eight runs, while batting .437. He had a career high three hits in the last game of the series against UC Davis. UC Riverside went 2-2 last week, losing to Fresno State and taking two out of three from UC Davis. Hardy is hitting .387, has three home runs and 13 RBIs. UC Riverside hosts California State University, Northridge for a three game series beginning Friday.
