Five Former Honkers Chosen in MLB Draft
ROCHESTER, MN. – The recent 2019 MLB Draft featured five former Honkers: Morgan McCullough, Kenyon Yovan, Josh Ibarra, Keaton Weisz and Jaylon McLaughlin.
McCullough was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels with pick 661 in round 22. He played for the Honkers in 2017 while attending the University of Alabama.
Yovan was also drafted by the Angels. He was picked with pick 811 in round 27. He pitched for the Honkers in 2017 while attending the University of Oregon.
Ibarra was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers with pick 911 in round 30. He pitched for the Honkers in 2018 while attending Golden West College where he was coached by Honkers’ Field Manager Thomas Walker.
Weisz was the third former Honkers drafted by the Angels. He was chosen with pick 1081 in round 36. He played for the Honkers in 2016 while attending Coastal Carolina University.
McLaughlin was drafted by the Chicago Cubs with pick 1122 in round 37. He played for the Honkers in 2018 while attending the University of Nevada.
