Rochester waded through a low scoring affair early, striking for five runs in the sixth inning on their way to a 6-1 win. The Honkers sent ten men to the frame using four hits to pull away.

Tied at one in the sixth, the Honkers took advantage of a crucial bases-loaded opportunity to take the lead. Following a Benjamin Rosengard (Rice) walk, Ben North (Creighton) single, and Alex Pimentel (Long Beach St) hit-by-pitch, Jack Colette (San Jose St) delivered an RBI single to break the tie.

After a pitching change, Zach Cole (Ball St) and Mike Bolton Jr (Purdue) worked back-to-back walks to bring home a run. It was Bolton’s tenth RBI of the summer.

Cole Fontenelle (Washington) finished the Honker scoring with a two-run single. The freshman extended his hitting-streak to five with the eighth inning hit.

The Honkers pitching staff cracked just once in the ballgame, a Spencer Sarringar (Northern St) RBI-single to put the Larks in front in the third. Rochester answered in the bottom half with a Benjamin Rosengard (Rice) RBI-double.

Three Honkers pitchers combined to keep Bismarck off the scoreboard for the final six innings of the ballgame. Ben Grable (Northwestern) earned the win in three innings, allowing no hits, walking two, and striking out five.

Rochester improves to 26-26 with the win, 11-9 on the second half. The Honkers and Larks matchup tomorrow for the series finale at 6:35 from Mayo Field.
