Rochester generated some power production tonight, though the two homers left the visitors a run shy in a 5-4 loss to Bismarck.

Trailing 1-0 after an inning, the Honkers took the lead in the second. Nico Regino (Delta) lined a two-run homer just over the left-field wall. Zach Meddings (Delta) came around to score after leading off the inning with a single.

The Larks tied it in the third, helped by a Rochester error before taking the lead with a three-run fifth. Bismarck strung together five hits with a run-scoring single by Cole Roberts (Loyola Marymount) and a two-RBI single by Spencer Sarringar. (Northern St)

Rochester closed the gap with runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Nico Regino (Delta) scored on a first and third double steal. Alex Pimentel (Long Beach St) swiped second allowing Regino to come across to score. Regino reached base three times with the homer, base hit, and walk.

The Honkers pulled within one in the eighth, Jack Colette (San Jose St) tucked a homer just inside the right-field foul pole to lead off the inning. It was Colette’s fourth of summer and 25th RBI. Rochester advanced the tying-run on base with a Wyatt Rogers (Minnesota St Mankato) walk but could not find a way to tie it up.

With the loss, the Honkers fall to 28-32 on the summer and 13-15 in the second half. They close out the four-game set with Bismarck tomorrow, first pitch from Bismark Municipal Ballpark at 4:05. The game can be streamed on the Rochester Honkers Radio Network (https://mixlr.com/honkersbroadcast)
