BISMARCK, ND – The Rochester Honkers snapped a three game losing streak tonight, beating the Bismarck Larks by a final score of 7-4. The story tonight was AJ Campbell (Frostburg State). The two-way player was tremendous on the mound, pitching five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He also made an impact at the plate, hitting his first homer of the season in the fifth. 

The Honkers started the scoring in the third, after a Theo Hardy (San Jose State) walk, Will Asby (University of San Francisco) drove him home with an RBI double. Rochester added another in the fifth thanks to a throwing error by Enrique Morales (Georgetown College). The Honkers blew the game open with a five run sixth, one run came home on an error, then AJ Campbell drove in two with a two run homerun, and Zack Meddings (Coastal Carolina) drove in another with an RBI double, the Honkers took a 7-0 lead. 

The Larks wouldn’t go away though, they scored two runs in the sixth on a Ryan Curran (Montevallo) two run triple, and two more in the seventh, thanks to RBI hits by Enrique Morales and Daryl Ruiz (Cal St. San Bernardino). 

The late inning arms in the Honkers bullpen shut down Bismarck’s comeback attempt, Cam Holycross (Indiana State) struck out 4 of the 5 batters he faced and Thaniel Trumper (Doane) struck out the side in the ninth, picking up his second save of the season. 

The Honkers improve to 2-3 on the young season, they’ll look to split the series tomorrow night with Frank Craska (Lafayette) on the mound. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
