ROCHESTER, MINN – The Rochester Honkers lost the nightcap of their day-night doubleheader against the St. Cloud Rox 19-3 Thursday night at Mayo Field.

The Honkers fell behind early. St. Cloud took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on an Ethan Mann (New Mexico State) two run home run. The Honkers took their first lead in the third. With two on and two out Alex Pimentel (Long Beach State) crushed a three run home run, his first of the summer giving Rochester a 3-2 lead.

After that, it was all Rox. St. Cloud put up their second eight run inning in as many games today in the fourth. They scored eight runs on six hits, the big hits being a Camden Hayslip (Alabama) two run single, a two run double off the bat of Brice Matthews (Nebraska) and a three run home run by Josh Cowden (BYU). That made it 10-3 and from there the Rox cruised. Rochester didn’t score another run in this game and St. Cloud added nine more, six in the seventh and three more in the ninth. Ryan Jackson (Nevada, Reno) hit a solo home run in the seventh and Ethan Mann hit his second home run of the night in the ninth, a three run shot.

The Honkers split the double header against St. Cloud and enter game three of this five game home-stand against the Minnesota Mud Puppies tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
