ROCHESTER, MINN – The Rochester Honkers pitched their second shutout of the summer defeating the Duluth Huskies 5-0 at Mayo Field.

Noah Rooney (Minnesota) was terrific for Rochester. He retired the first 11 batters he faced and pitched six scoreless innings in his best outing of the summer. The Honkers scored five runs, all of them with two outs. Michael Brown (Washington) drove in the first run of the game with a double in the second inning. Rochester added three more in the fifth. After Colby Wikerson (UNC) singled his UNC teammate Alex Ritzer drove him home with a double. The very next batter, Kevin Dowdell (West Virginia) hit a run scoring double and Theo Hardy (San Jose State) capped off the inning with a RBI single. Nico Regino (Charleston Southern) added another run with an RBI single in the eighth.

As Rooney pitched six scoreless innings the bullpen was fantastic behind him. Cam Holycross (Indiana State) pitched a scoreless seventh with Troy Wentworth (UC Irvine) completing the eighth without giving up a run and Thaniel Trumper (Doane) closing out the Honker win with a scoreless ninth. The Rochester bullpen hasn’t given up a run in their last 10 innings.

The Honkers get their second shutout of the summer defeating the Huskies 5-0. They end this homestand 3-2 before going to Waterloo on Tuesday. First pitch against the Bucks is set for 6:35 p.m. Lance Santerre (University of San Francisco) makes the start.
