The Rochester Honkers had their three game winning streak snapped tonight as they lost 5-2 to the Eau Claire Express at Carson Park.

The Honkers fell behind first in this one. Ben Rosengard (Rice) blasted the first of his three hits over the left field wall, giving Eau Claire a 1-0 lead in the third. The Honkers took the lead in the very next inning. Back-to-back two out RBI singles off the bats of Joe Longo (Michigan) and Colby Wilkerson (UNC) gave Rochester a 2-1 lead. The score stayed that way until the seventh.

With runners at second and first Eau Claire re-took the lead with a two run double down the right field line off the bat of Joe Yorke. The Express added two more in the bottom of the eighth when Charlie Szykowny (Wisconsin – Stout) blooped a two run single into center to make it 5-2. In the ninth Matt Helwig (Lewis) came on and recorded his first save of the summer with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

The Honkers fall to 10-13 this summer and have their three game winning streak snapped. They’ll look for the series split tomorrow with David Rodriguez on the mound, first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
