EAU CLAIRE, WI – The Rochester Honkers lost to the Express for the second consecutive night, this time by a final score of 5-1 at Carson Park.

The game was a pitchers duel to start but the Express got to Honkers starter David Rodriguez (Delta College) in the fifth. Max Coupe (Skyline) drove in the first run of the game with a single and afterwards Ben Rosengard (Rice) hit an RBI groundout to make it 2-0. The Honkers got one of those runs back in the sixth. With Theo Hardy (San Jose State) at third Nico Regino (Charleston Southern) cut Rochester’s deficit in half with a single.

Down 3-1 in the eighth the Honkers had a golden chance to at least tie the game. Rochester had the bases loaded and nobody out but Alex Pimentel (Long Beach State), Nico Regino and Michael Brown (Washington) all struck out and the Honkers didn’t scratch together a run. Eau Claire added two more in the eighth and pulled away, winning 5-1.

The Honkers fall to 10-14 this summer and are swept by the Express in this two game series. Rochester is back in action tomorrow night as they return home to face the Waterloo Bucks. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
