ROCHESTER, MINN – The Rochester Honkers never led and lost to the Bismarck Larks 8-3 tonight at Mayo Field.

The Larks took a 5-0 lead in the top of the first, four of those runs coming on a Jake Hjelle (Minnesota Crookston) grand slam. The Honkers got a run back in the bottom half on a Nico Regino (Charleston Southern) RBI groundout.

Bismarck put up two more in the fourth. AJ Barraza (Cal State San Bernardino) hit a run scoring double to right and Khalid Collymore (Montevallo) added another with an RBI single.

The score was 8-1 heading into the ninth where the Honkers made things a bit interesting by scoring a pair of runs, but it was moot as Rochester fell 8-3.

The Honkers fall to 11-16 this summer. They’ll look for the series split tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m.
