DULUTH, MINN – The Rochester Honkers fell to the Duluth Huskies 15-8 in game two of a two game series on Thursday night at Wade Stadium.
After Rochester never trailed in game one, they were behind all game in game two. Duluth took the lead with a three run second inning, two of the runs scored on an error by Michael Brown (Washington).
The Honkers offense couldn’t do anything against Jaron DeBerry (Grayson). The 6’4 right hander, who has a pitching motion identical to Jacob deGrom’s, was brilliant over seven innings. He allowed just two hits and struck out seven in seven scoreless innings. He picked up his second win of the summer.
With the Huskies leading 5-0 entering the eighth this game got a little crazy. Duluth scored ten runs in the inning to make it 15-0. Rochester followed that up with an eight run ninth to lose 15-8.
With the loss the Honkers settle for a series split and fall to 13-17 this summer. They’ll head back home and begin a two game series against the Mankato MoonDogs tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
