ROCHESTER, MINN – The Rochester Honkers started the second half with a bang on Wednesday night, defeating the Minnesota Mud Puppies 9-1 at Mayo Field.

The Honkers scored nine runs in four innings against the Minnesota starter Chad Fox (Minnesota Duluth). They put up a run in the first and second, three in the third and four more in the fourth. They had six RBI singles, plus a Theo Hardy solo home run (San Jose State), his first of the summer.

On the mound for Rochester was Nate Hansen (Delta College) and he was terrific. Hansen threw five scoreless innings, striking out the final five batters he faced. He picked up his second win in as many starts and has a 1.80 ERA through two outings.

The Honkers kick off the second half with a win. They’ll look for the series split tomorrow night at Mayo Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
