WILLMAR, MINN – The Rochester Honkers dropped game two to the Willmar Stingers 6-5 on Tuesday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Honkers scored the first run of the game on an Alex Pimentel (UNLV) RBI single in the top of the first. The Stingers quickly responded to tie it in the bottom half of the inning on a Scott Anderson (Point Loma Nazarene) RBI single.

The Stingers took the lead in a big way by putting up five runs in the bottom of the third. Three runs scored on two bases loaded walks and an RBI ground out but the biggest hit came off the bat of Jake Entrekin (Point Loma Nazarene). He hit a two run double which made it 6-1 Willmar.

The Honkers scored the next four runs in the game to pull within one. Jaxson Edwards (Lubbock Christian) made it 6-2 with an RBI single in the fourth. Dario Gomez (Nevada) scored on a wild pitch in the fifth and Theo Hardy (San Jose State) did the same in the seventh. Rochester made it a one run game in the eighth on a RBI hit-by-pitch to Gomez. However the comeback fell short as Joe Longo (Michigan) struck out to end the game in the ninth with the tying run in scoring position.

With the loss the Honkers fall to 8-8 in the second half and 0-2 on this road trip. They head to St. Cloud for a doubleheader against the Rox on Wednesday. First pitch of game one is set for 1:05 p.m. Game two begins at 7:05.
