ROCHESTER, MN. – The Rochester Honkers baseball club today announced its 2019 team will feature two players from the University of Louisville: Danny Oriente and Tim Borden II.
Oriente is a 6’0”, 190-pound outfielder from Downers Grove, Illinois. The junior is currently second on his team with 20 runs batted in (RBIs). He also boasts the second-best batting average (0.277) through 32 games. He finished his sophomore season with .331 batting average, 10 doubles and 41 RBIs in 55 appearances, including 50 starts. Following the regular season, Oriente went 8-for-15 at the plate with two doubles and five RBIs during the NCAA Regional. He earned 2018 NCAA All-Lubbock Regional Team, 2018 All-ACC Third Team, and 2018 All-ACC Academic Team. His freshman season was cut short due to an injury during opening weekend. He played three seasons of prep baseball at Downers Grove South High School where he received All-Area and All-State honors in 2016 and 2015.
Borden II is a 6’2”, 190-pound infielder from Sellersburg, Indiana. The freshman has yet to appear in a collegiate game, but his high school career was highly productive. In fact, it was so productive that he was selected in the 37th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft by the Cleveland Indians. Borden II’s highest honor during his time at Our Lady of Providence High School was being a three-time First Team All-State selection. Additionally, he registered a .484 batting average with six home runs, 12 doubles, 41 RBIs and 28 runs scored during senior season. His junior year was just as good as he hit .417 with seven home runs, 12 doubles, 38 RBIs and 28 runs. He helped his team win the 2A State Championship as a sophomore in 2016. He lettered all four seasons of his high school career.
