ROCHESTER, MINN – The Rochester Honkers blew a 9-2 lead and lost to the Waterloo Bucks 10-9 on Sunday night at Mayo Field.

After a 17-11 win over the Bucks last night it looked like it was going to be more of the same. The Honkers scored six runs in the first and one in the second and third to take a 8-2 lead after three. The big hits for Rochester were an Alex Pimentel (Long Beach State) RBI double, Zach Meddings (Coastal Carolina) RBI double. Rochester only had five RBI today, they scored runs on bases loaded walks and wild pitches from the Waterloo pitching staff.

The sixth inning was when Waterloo started coming back. Liam Critchett (Loyola Marymount) crushed a grand slam to make it a two run game and in the eighth Ryan Grabosch (New Mexico State) gave the Bucks the lead for good with a two run single.

Rochester threatened in the ninth with the bases loaded and two outs but Tyler White (Long Beach State) struck out swinging to end it.

The Honkers fall to 11-15 this summer. They’ll start a two game series against the Bismarck Larks tomorrow night. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. from Mayo Field.
