ROCHESTER, MINN – The Northwoods League announced rosters to their Major League Dream Showcase yesterday and two Honkers, Michael Carico and Kevin Dowdell, have been selected.

Carico, a catcher out of Davidson, has three home runs and 18 RBI in 24 games with the Honkers this summer. He has a .482 on-base-percentage and .929 OPS which both leads the team. Carico had a tremendous season with Davidson where he led the country in OBP, finished third in slugging and seventh in batting average. Overall he hit .406 with 21 HR and 57 RBI.

Dowdell, a two way player out of West Virginia, has been one of the most valuable players on the Honkers this summer. At the plate Dowdell is tied for second on the team in home runs and has 18 runs scored in 22 games. On the mound Dowdell has been terrific out of the bullpen, posting a 3.38 ERA in 13 appearances. He has given up just one run in his last eight outings.

The Major League Dream Showcase takes place at Copeland Park in La Crosse, Wisconsin; on August 2nd. The rosters are decided by a panel of Major League Baseball scouts choosing players from both the Great Plains and Great Lakes divisions. The players will participate in a workout which will be followed by a double-header that starts at 4 p.m. Carico and Dowdell will play in game two.
