ROCHESTER, MINN – The Rochester Honkers were unable to complete the sweep as they lost to the Bismarck Larks 10-9 in 10 innings on Wednesday afternoon at Mayo Field.

The Larks took an early 2-0 lead on a pair of solo home runs from Kaiden Cardoso (Minot State) and Jackson Beaman (Missouri). The Honkers took the lead in the bottom of the second thanks to three bases loaded walks. Rochester extender their lead in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a Carson Stevens (Cal Poly) solo home run and Menelik Israel (Duke) two run double.

With the Honkers ahead 6-2 Bismarck battled back in the top of the sixth. They scored three runs to make it a one run game on an error, RBI groundout and a run scoring single from A.J. Barraza (Cal State San Bernardino). Rochester got two of those runs back with a Dario Gomez (Nevada) two run home run to make it 8-5 Honkers. The Larks once again pulled within a run on another home run from Jackson Beaman, this time it was a two run shot.

Rochester took a two run lead in the bottom of the eighth on a solo homer from Dario Gomez but Bismarck tied it in the ninth. Kaiden Cardoso made it 9-8 with a sac fly and Garrett Macias (Cal State San Bernardino) tied the game with an RBI single with the Larks down to their final out. Bismarck took the lead in the tenth on an Adam Axtell (Point Loma Nazarene) RBI single. In the bottom of the tenth Rochester had the bases loaded and one out but the Larks induced a double play to end the game.

With the loss the Honkers fall to 26-32 and 2-2 on this home-stand. They start a two game series against the Duluth Huskies tomorrow night at Mayo Field. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
