(Rochester, Minn)— The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of Seth Holbert, a right-handed pitcher from Sam Houston State.
Holbert is a 6-foot-1, 170 red-shirt freshman from College Station, Texas. Currently he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Holbert has made six relief appearances so far, pitching 9.0 innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 6. He earned his win on Feb. 23, pitching 2.0 shutout innings versus Dallas Baptist in the 4-1 victory.
Holbert graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 2012 where he as an All-State and All-District 12-5A pitcher. He led his team to a district title in which his squad was ranked as high as No. 2 in the Texas Class 5A. He was named his team’s “Pitcher of the Year.”
The Rochester Honkers 21st season begins on May 27th when the Waterloo Bucks prance into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch. The Honkers will play 72 games in 2014 (36 home, 36 away).
