(Rochester, Minn.) – The Rochester Honkers trail the Waterloo Bucks 3-2 in the top of the ninth in a game suspended due to curfew. The game will be finished on Monday, July 4 in Waterloo. A weather delay forced the game to start 1 hour and 57 minutes late, and the game had another one hour 24 minute weather delay after the fourth inning.

The Bucks started off the scoring in the third inning, when they scored two runs on a Honkers’ error. The Honkers trailed all the way to the top of the seventh, then Jacob Thomas (UC Davis) doubled to left field, which put Joey Czarske (Cal State Northridge) on third. Then an error by the Bucks in left field allowed Czarske to score.

Keaton Weisz (Auburn) hit a single in the next at-bat to tie the game at 2.

Zach Sanders (New Mexico Junior College) stole second base, advanced to third on a balk and scored on a groundball put out in the bottom of the eighth to give the Bucks a 3-2 lead before play was suspended due curfew after eight innings of play.

Isaac Friesen (Hawaii) got the start for the Honkers; he pitched seven innings, allowed five hits, two unearned runs, walked three and struck out one. Jesse Ellefson (Montevallo) pitched the eighth inning for the Honkers, he allowed one run, walked one and struck out one.  

Steven Baker (Chico State) got the start for the Bucks; he went three innings, allowed two hits, no runs, walked two and struck out three. Derek Hendrixson (Wright State) pitched three innings of relief for the Bucks, he allowed five hits, two runs, one of which was earned, and struck out four.

Weisz was 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Honkers offense, while Brody Weiss (Riverside City College) went 2 for 4 to lead the Bucks.

The Rochester Honkers start a five-game home stand Wednesday as the same Waterloo Bucks team comes to Mayo Field. It is Finding Dory Night presented by CineMagic Theatres, where the first 250 fans will receive a free movie ticket. Also, three – $100 prize package giveaways will be awarded, courtesy of CineMagic Theatres! First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6. Thursday, the Honkers will take on the Duluth Huskies on Mayo Department of Medicine Night! First Pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and gates open at 6.
