(Rochester, Minn.) – The South Division defeated the North 24-19 in the Northwoods League Home Run Derby at the Harbor Monday night in Kenosha, Wis. The Honkers’ Alex Fitchett (Hawaii) hit two home runs in the contest.
Marty Bechina (Michigan State) of the Kenosha Kingfish won the Home Run Derby at the Harbor with six home runs, to lead the South Division to the victory.
Each division had nine players hit, with each player getting six outs as they attempted to hit home runs into Lake Michigan. Sailboats from the Kenosha Yacht Club served as the foul poles to mark the dimensions of Simmons Field and a floating barrier mimicked the outfield wall.
The Honkers have hit the All-Star Break! Turner Buis will represent the Honkers in the All-Star Game Tuesday night in Kenosha, Wis. The Honkers return to play Thursday in Thunder Bay to take on the Border Cats, with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m. The Honkers next home game is Tuesday, July 26 as the La Crosse Loggers come to town. It is TV Tuesday on the 26th presented by Sam’s Club, where one lucky fan will have the chance to win a 40” TV!
