This week we are catching up with former Buck Robert Matlock. Currently, Matlock is an outfielder for the Edinburg Roadrunners of the United Baseball League. Matlock attended Freed-Hardeman University and as a senior led his college team in batting average (.356), hits (69), and RBI (56). Matlock also played well on the defensive side, committing only five errors throughout his senior season.
 
The 5’11”, 195-pound Matlock was signed as a rookie free agent on July 13, 2007 with the Flyers and was used in a utility player role. He had a .299 batting average, eight RBI and six stolen bases while playing for the Flyers.
 
In 2008, Matlock started the season playing for the Roadrunners. He played in 49 of the Roadrunners games. He batted .295 with two homers and 21 RBI. Matlock found his way on to the Alexandria Aces Roster later that season. He finished the season batting a .289, and hitting two homers and 24 RBI.

In 2009, Matlock was back on the Roadrunners roster. Robert Matlock was selected team MVP after hitting .329, 33 RBI and having 33 stolen bases. Matlock played in all but one of the Roadrunners games last season.
 
The Tennessee native was a member of the Bucks in 2006, in which he achieved “Iron Man” status by playing in all 68 games, which set the Bucks single season games played record. Matlock batted .277 with 13 doubles and 18 RBI in route to being named a mid-season All-Star and the Bucks team M.V.P. Matlock was also named a Northwoods League Silver Glove Award winner after committing only five errors in his 68 games played.
