The Bucks started the 2010 season with a bang, winning the season opener 3-1 against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. An energetic offensive effort gave the Bucks the lead in the second inning, but it was solid pitching that kept them there.

First baseman Jake Astor started the season on fire at the plate for the Bucks. The Southern Arkansas University standout led the Bucks’ offense by hitting 2-4 and driving in one run. The Bucks also saw contributions on offense from DH Brandon Williams and RF Nick Anderson, who both drove in a run for Waterloo.

Starting pitcher Jared Wagoner led the way for the Bucks on the mound. Wagoner threw six strike-outs in seven innings and starved the Rafters to only a single run. With a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning, Wagoner handed the reins to relief pitcher Luke Putz, who struck out four Rafters while recording the save.

Waterloo also impressed in the field. The Bucks started the game with a first inning double play, and maintained their swagger throughout the game allowing only two errors, five Rafters on base, and only one run.
