After last night’s ambush of the division-leading Eau Claire Express (18-11) on their home field, the Waterloo Bucks (16-14) couldn’t help falling prey to Eau Claire’s revenge. The Bucks failed to capitalize on most of their nine total hits, and the Bucks dropped game two of the three-game series 6-1.
Eight Bucks contributed offensively, but nobody seemed to be able to get a hit when it mattered. Leaving eight runners on base throughout the course of the game, Waterloo’s offense couldn’t hold a candle to Eau Claire’s steady six runs. SS Chase Jaramillo (pictured) led the Bucks on offense with two hits and one RBI on the night. LF Nick Anderson also recorded the Bucks’ only run on a double in the top of the fourth inning.
Starting pitcher Corey Witkowski (2-3) was handed the loss for the Bucks after giving up three runs and five hits. Witkowski did manage to throw three strikeouts on the night, but it didn’t save him from being replaced after six innings on the hill. Express’ starter Rudy Jaramillo was awarded the win after holding Waterloo to just one run on eight hits in just under seven innings on the mound. Eau Claire’s closer Scott Marinier (1-1) recorded his first save of the season after allowing only one hit in the final two innings of the game.

The Bucks and Express will close out the series with the rubber match tomorrow night at 6:05 P.M. at Carson Park. With the Express staring down at the Bucks from first place in the division, the Bucks will get one last chance to start closing the gap with a big win tomorrow night.
