After piecing together a game shattered by delays, the Waterloo Bucks came up just short on Friday night. With no help from the elements, the Waterloo Bucks (5-12, 24-28) dropped game one of a three-game homestand against the Green Bay Bullfrogs (10-8, 28-24).
The Bucks actually outhit the Bullfrogs eleven to eight, but had trouble converting those baserunners into runs. Waterloo stranded eleven runners on base on Friday night, failing to capitalize on their superior numbers at the plate. RF Landon Anderson (pictured) batted a perfect three-for-three on the night, contributing one RBI for the Bucks. CF Willie Argo also had three hits and one RBI in the game, and DH Brandon Williams recorded two runs and one RBI.
Waterloo’s ace pitcher Jared Wagoner (5-5) took the loss on Friday night after allowing six runs off of five hits in just under five innings on the mound. Wagoner was replaced by relief pitcher Matt Grabowski (0-1) after Green Bay exploded for six runs in the fifth inning. Grabowski lasted two innings allowing only one run off of one hit before he was replaced with relief pitcher Steven Richardson (0-3). Richardson kept the Bullfrogs from scoring as he finished out the game for the Bucks, giving up only two hits and one walk. Green Bay’s relief pitcher Justin Lambert (1-0) got his first win of the season after replacing starter Riley Tincher (4-2) in the third inning. Lambert outdueled Wagoner, allowing only three runs off of seven hits in just under five innings on the mound. Brian Burgess (2-2) got his fifth save of the season for the Bullfrogs.
