The Bucks took care of the Honkers easily on Thursday, winning by a score of 10-4, continuing their perfect start to the season (2-0). This also gives the Bucks their first road win of the season and makes them two for two against the rival Honkers.

The game started as a pitcher’s duel, with the Bucks Micah Bryan going against the Honkers DJ Snelten. Bryan went four innings for the Bucks, giving up only one run and striking out six. The Bucks struggled against Snelten, striking out ten times in five innings against him, but were able to string together a few hits against him in the 4th inning, scoring the first runs of the game to take a 2-0 lead. The Honkers came back with runs in the 4th and 6th to tie it but from there on the Bucks dominated.

The Bucks were able to score a run in the 7th and 8th innings each and then exploded in the top of 9th for six runs to take a 10-2 lead. Benny Roberts (pictured above) and Connor McClain each had three RBI a piece, with Roberts giving the Bucks their first home run of the season in the top of the 9th. Roberts and Austin Barrett did an excellent job anchoring the middle of the order for the Bucks, going a combined 4 for 9 with four RBI and two runs. Lindauer also had a RBI and two stolen bases, giving him three on the season.

The pitching was excellent for the Bucks for the second night in a row. After Bryan got the Bucks a great start, the bullpen went to work. Nick Maiers went two innings for the Bucks, giving up just one run and striking out three. Maiers was also credited with the win. Ryan Doty came in next, giving up just one hit, no runs, and striking out three in two innings of work. Connor Cline finished out the game for the Bucks, giving up two runs and striking out one in his single inning of work.

Next up, the Bucks come home to Riverfront Stadium to play the Willmar Stingers in the first game of a five game home stand. The game will start at 6:35 pm. Be sure to check out www.waterloobucks.com for all your latest Bucks information.
