  Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced that Peter Leonello has been named the Young Plumbing & Heating Bucks Player of the Week. Barrett is a Commack, New York native and is currently attending Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York.


In his last six games, Leonello hit .542 (13-24) with three doubles, six RBI and 12 runs scored. That includes a game against the Rochester Honkers on Tuesday, June 12 in which he went 6-6 with five singles and a double. Peter was named the Northwoods League Player of the Night for that performance. He was also walked seven times to round out the 31 plate appearances. In that time span, his on-base percentage was .645 while slugging .667 to go with an OPS of 1.312.

The Bucks next home game is today against the Alexandria Beetles in the finale of a five-game set. The series is 2-2 thus far as Waterloo looks to reclaim first place in the North division behind the Mankato MoonDogs. First pitch tonight is set for 6:35 p.m. Following the contest, the blue and yellow are on the road for another five-game set north of the border against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
