Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks, a member of the Northwoods League, have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Adam Dian to their roster for the 2013 season.  Dian (pronounced DEE-on), a sophomore at Temple University, is the 14th player to be named to Waterloo’s roster for the team’s 19th season.

Last year, Dian appeared in 17 games for the Owls, finishing with a 1-1 record and a 4.46 ERA. The 6’4”, 215-pounder notched one save and struck out 24 while holding opposing hitters to a .200 average.

"Adam brings us a great arm and will add depth to our bullpen,” said Bucks pitching coach Tony Manville. “He will be one of the guys in the game in late inning situations. Adam comes from a very quality program in Temple and will be a great asset to our pitching staff."

Last summer, Dian played for the Butler Blue Sox of the Prospect League where he led the league in saves with 13. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native was named a mid-season All-Star and finished the season with a 1-2 record, a 3.41 ERA, and 54 strikeouts in 25 appearances.

Born June 4, 1993, Dian attended the Vincentian Academy where he went 5-1 with 69 strikeouts as a senior. Dian was named the Pitcher of the Game in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League All-Star Game and was a three-time All-Selection WPIAL pitcher. Adam is the son of Craig and Debra Dian.

In other news, the Bucks have waived catcher Adam Dennison (Eastern Michigan University) due to injury.

The Bucks will open the 2013 season at home versus the St. Cloud Rox on May 29. Season tickets, group outings, and single-game tickets are currently on sale. For more information, call the Bucks’ Ticket Line at (319) 232-5633. Fans are encouraged to stay in touch with the Bucks in the off-season by utilizing their website at www.waterloobucks.com.
