The offense that has been lacking to this point in the second half finally made an appearance on Monday night, and not a moment too soon. After losing the first game of the series Sunday afternoon, the Bucks won game two decisively, 9-5.
Bucks' starter Cody Sedlock allowed three first inning runs, putting the Bucks in an early hole. A third inning home run from Kevin Kaczmarski put the Bucks ahead for good, though, and they would add to their lead from there.
Sedlock only pitched one inning due to his pitch count, so Nick Veale took over on the hill in the second inning. He went five strong frames and earned the victory, allowing no runs and striking out four.
Mankato's starter Austin Warner took the loss for the MoonDogs, giving up five earned runs in three and one third innings. He struggled with his command as well, walking four and striking out just two Bucks.
The win pulls the Bucks to within one half game of first place Mankato. Waterloo will travel to Willmar next for a battle against the winner of the First Half, the Stingers. Nick Deckert takes the hill for the Bucks in that one.
