Despite an ugly top of the first, in which Thunder Bay posted a quick three runs, the Bucks managed to blow out the Border Cats on Monday night.

Thunder Bay struck first with three, but the Bucks totaled nine runs in the first three innings and effectively put the ball game out of reach. Waterloo would tally five more runs and go on to win 14-4.

With 21 hits hits on the night, the Bucks fell one short of their franchise record of 22. Connor McClain won player of the game honors, stuffing the stat sheet with three hits and four runs batted in.

Collin Wendinger allowed four runs over four innings and ended up with a no decision. Alec Knop came in to relieve Wendinger in the fifth and eventually earned the victory, his first with the Bucks.

Mankato defeated Willmar in other Northwoods League action, meaning that the Bucks are tied for first in the North Division standings.

The Bucks wrap up their regular season home schedule with a matchup against Thunder Bay on Wednesday night. That game will take place at Riverfront Stadium at 6:35 p.m. Nick Veale is slated to be the starter in that one.
