In a game full of offensive firepower, the Bucks fell by a 10-8 final to the La Crosse Loggers on Opening Day.

Deion Thompson reached base 4 times for Waterloo, going 3-4 with a double, a hit-by-pitch, and an RBI. His Western Illinois teammate Drue Galassi had a 2-4 day with a triple and a lone RBI. Greg Anderberg had a stellar Bucks debut, going 3-5, while Kaden Polcovich went 2-6 and led the team with 3 RBI. The Bucks pounded out 15 hits, 4 for extra bases, and notched two steals from Brendan Hueth.

On the pitching side for Waterloo, Matt Whalen threw well in his first career start (NWL/NCAA/NJCAA), striking out a pair while allowing a lone run in 3.1 innings. Robert Reaser struck out 4 across 2.2 frames of relief, and Christian Griffin whiffed a pair to keep it a two run game in the 9th. The Bucks pitching staff forced the Loggers into 4 double plays, with all four involving the stellar defensive middle infield of Thompson and Kevin Welsh.
