The Waterloo Bucks (26-13) received timely power hitting, a record-tying home run off Peyton Williams’ bat and a tremendous start from Nolan Meredith en route to a 10-1 road win over the Rochester Honkers (7-27).

Williams (2-4, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI) belted a three-run home run in the ninth, his thirteenth of the summer, tying the single-season Bucks record previously set by Zach Daeges in 2005.

Meredith provided Waterloo with 6.0 innings of one-run baseball, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Ethan Copeland (1-4, R, BB, SB) led off the fourth with a single, stole second then scored on an error. Following a game-tying solo homer from Rochester’s Aaron Simmons, Jalen Smith (1-4, 2 R HR, 2 RBI) crushed a two-run home run in the sixth. Ryan Guardino (1-2, R, 2 BB, HR, 2 RBI) added a two-run shot in the seventh, followed by Williams scoring on a passed ball and Charley Hesse (0-4, 2 R, HBP, SB) stealing home on a pickoff play in the eighth.

Jake Hilmer (1.0 ip, H), Alex Schoessler (1.0 ip, BB, K) and Zach Button (1.0 ip, BB, K) provided the Bucks with three scoreless relief innings.

Waterloo returns home Monday for a 6:35 p.m. start against the Honkers.
