The Waterloo Bucks’ (27-13) lineup provided righthander Jordan Nelson with more than enough run support in a 10-1 trouncing of the Rochester Honkers (7-28) on Monday evening.

Nelson tossed 6.1 innings of one-run ball, scattering four hits and three walks while striking out six batters.

Down a run in the first, Ethan Copeland (1-2, 4 BB, 3 R) led off with his first of four walks and later scored on a two-out Brett McCleary (2-5, 2 RBI) single. The Bucks tallied three more in the second courtesy of three straight two-out RBI knocks from Jalen Smith (1-4, HBP, 2 R 2 RBI), Peyton Williams (1-4, BB, R, RBI) and Ryan Guardino (1-5, RBI), the latter dropping down a beautiful squeeze bunt single down the third base line.

Waterloo added six runs in the third, sparked by a Ben Ranieri (2-4, BB, 2 R, 2B, 2 RBI) two-run double.

Will Christophersen (1.0 ip, K), Kevin Lyons (1.0 ip, BB, 2 K) and Zach Button (0.2 ip, H, 2 K) finished off the Honkers with a combined 2.2 scoreless relief frames.

Blake Doremus (3-5, R, 2B) provided Waterloo with a three-hit game as part of the offensive explosion.

The Bucks have back-to-back off days before their 6:35 p.m. Thursday season finale at Riverfront Stadium against the Mankato MoonDogs.
