Waterloo Bucks (32-21, 9-10) second baseman Jalen Smith went five-for-six with four runs scored, a double, one RBI and two ridiculous defensive plays as part of a 12-5 drubbing of the Bismarck Larks (25-26, 7-9) on Tuesday night, leading Waterloo to a four-game road sweep. Josh Kasevich (3-for-5, R, 2 2B, 4 RBI) drove in four and doubled twice while Jackson Lyon (2-for-5, HBP, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI) and Sam Biller (2-for-4, BB, R, RBI, SB) added multi-hit games in the win. With the victory, Waterloo earned their second four-game sweep of 2021 and clinched a season series win over the Larks. The Bucks pounded out 15 hits in the game.
Cameron Hagan earned his second win of 2021 with 5.0 frames of two-run ball, striking out five while scattering six hits and four walks. The righty worked at a 70.4% first-pitch strike rate and kept the ball on the ground at a 64.7% clip.
Seven of the Bucks’ nine starters had at least one hit, as Max Jung-Goldberg (1-for-5, R, RBI), Dalton Chandler (1-for-3, 2 BB, R, RBI, SB) and Chris Seng (1-for-4, BB, R) added a base knock. Waterloo used a six-run second featuring a bases-clearing Kasevich double and a two-run Lyon home run and scored in six of the game’s first seven frames.
Anthony Pron dealt 2.2 scoreless relief innings to help secure the win, striking out three and allowing just one walk.
The Bucks return to action on Thursday in Mankato with a 6:35 p.m. CST first pitch at ISG Field.
