Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks (28–25) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth on Monday evening to overcome a late deficit against the Rochester Honkers, taking the contest 4–2.

The Bucks took the lead in the eighth after Marcus Heusohn and Cole Hill both found their way into scoring position, allowing Greg Nichols to record two-RBIs after shooting the first pitch he saw into right field during his lone pinch-hit appearance. Nichols would then find his way to third base before scoring on a wild pitch, giving the Bucks their fourth run of the night.

The Honkers had an opportunity to come back in the top of the ninth, forcing the Bucks and reliever Chaney Trout into a bases loaded jam. Fortunately, Trout struck out Rochester’s final batter, Ben North, to seal the deal.

The Bucks received some great starting pitching from Ethan Bell, who pitched 5.0 inning while giving up zero earned runs.

The Bucks will head up to Rochester, MN on Wednesday to play a doubleheader against this same Honkers squad. The first game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. first pitch and the second game with start thirty minutes after the conclusion of the first.
