Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks defeat the Rochester Honkers in a 16-6 thrashing as Field Manager Darrell Handelsman collects his 200th win as the Bucks head coach.
The Bucks bats would get out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the second inning with a two-RBI single from INF Evan Morrison and the other two runs came from Luke Finn, one by his bat and one by him scoring via balk from LHP Saider Vicioso.
The Honkers scored four runs in the top of the third inning in an inning where there were three base knocks and a couple of errors and the game was back at even at four.
The Bucks’ biggest inning came in the bottom of the fourth when the offense exploded for eight runs and sent 12 batters to the plate. Whether it was a big two-run single from Chase Beattie or a two-run double off the bat of Larry Edwards Jr, everyone got involved to give the Bucks a 12-4 advantage.
The Bucks scored a combined 4 runs in the 5th and 6th and Larry Edwards Jr ended the night with three hits and four runs. The Bucks bats got hot at the right time and put up 16 total runs on 17 hits on the way for Skip’ to reach his 200th win at the helm of the Bucks.
Waterloo is back in action tomorrow against Rochester for game two of the series with the first pitch set at 6:35 PM at Riverfront Stadium.
