Rockford, IL – The Bucks head back to Waterloo to start a four-game set against the Thunder Bay Border Cats after losing the series to the Rockford Rivets after dropping the second game, 12-10.
The first two runs from the Bucks came in the Top of the 8th inning with a pinch-hit two-run home run from catcher Solen Munson—his first home run of the NWL season that he cruised over the rightfield wall at Rivets Stadium.
Then in the Top of the 9th inning, the runs showed up in droves. An eight-run inning is started by a one-run double off the bat of first baseman Chase Beattie scores Lucas Moore for the Bucks’ third run, followed by an infield error by the Rivets’ allowing Ben Wilmes to score. When it seemed that the defense locked in for the Rivets’, another infield error let Chase Beattie score.
Munson got another RBI from a 4-3 fielder’s choice and then Larry Edwards Jr right behind him scored Cole Smith on an RBI single. Arguably, the biggest hit of the Top of the 9th, is a two-run RBI triple off the bat of Lucas Moore, in his second at-bat of the inning; Moore then scores on a wild pitch to get the Bucks to double-digit runs. Unfortunately, even with the hot inning from the Bucks, it wasn’t enough for the Bucks to win game two.
The first game in Waterloo between the Thunder Bay Border Cats and Bucks starts tomorrow, July 9th, with the first pitch from Riverfront Stadium set for 6:35 PM.
