Waterloo, IA – The Bucks picked up their 1000th franchise regular-season victory in an offensive field day as they defeated the Border Cats, 15-8.
The Bucks had a big day and started by scoring two runs in the second inning, and then quickly turning around to the third frame and doing it again with a one-run double from Marcuhs Heusohn, followed up by a two-run home run from Ben Wilmes, and Waterloo had the lead 5-2.
Thunder Bay answered with two runs to cut the lead to one run. Then after a one-run fourth inning for Waterloo, they sent the bats back up in the bottom of the sixth and scored six more runs that sent every batter to the plate with station-to-station baseball.
The final runs for the Bucks came in a trio in the bottom of the eighth inning on a handful of singles, stolen bases, and a fielder’s choice.
The Bucks make the trip to face their Great Plains East rivals, the Rochester Honkers, in a two-game set at Mayo Field. Catch the first pitch tomorrow at 6:35 PM.
