Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks and Eau Claire Express clashed in game three of this homestand at Riverfront Stadium, and the Trains’ came away with a hard-fought victory by a score of 5-3.
The scoring began in the first inning for Eau Claire when Ethan Farris smoked a three-run homerun over the leftfield wall to give his team the lead 3-0.
Larry Edwards Jr answered back with a leadoff solo homerun over a deeper part of the leftfield wall and the scoring isn’t over for this bottom frame. With Lucas Moore and Ben Wilmes in scoring position, Cole Smith dropped down a beautiful bunt single to score Moore from third and add another run. Just one batter later, Ian Halverson dropped a sacrifice 1-3 bunt to score Wilmes and notch the game at three all.
It remained tied until the top of the fifth when Dylan Knowles hit a solo home run to give the Express the lead. Then in the top of the sixth, for the second time tonight, Ethan Farris barreled a fastball for a solo shot to make it his second home run of the night and a 5-3 lead.
That is all the scoring for the game as pitching took over.
The Bucks travel to Eau Claire, Wisconsin to start a two-game series against the Express on their turf. The first pitch from the July 16th joust at Carson Park is set for 6:35 PM.
