Eau Claire, WI – The Bucks split the series at Carson Park against the Eau Claire Express and lost the five-game split series three games to two.
The two games at Carson Park were both pitchers duels, with the second taking the crown. In the fastest game of the year for the Bucks (2 hours and 10 minutes), the pitching for both sides was dominant.
Left-handed starter Zach Evenson (Bemidji State) went six full innings, allowing two runs (one earned), with four hits and three strikeouts in his first start of the season. Eau Claire also threw a left-hander in Jace Kirby who went a season-high 7.2 IP only allowing one run that wasn’t earned with three strikeouts.
The Bucks scored their first run in the top of the third inning when Cole Smith (Southeastern CC) drove in Larry Edwards Jr (McNeese State) on a sacrifice fly to right field.
The two runs for Eau Claire came in the bottom of the fourth and the leading run in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run from Ethan Farris (Texas State).
Waterloo travels home to face the Thunder Bay Border Cats to end their week work week with two games at Riverfront Stadium.
