Waterloo, IA – After walking off Thunder Bay last night, the Bucks kept their high-leverage offense rolling into the first game against Minnesota which they won by a score of 12-8.

After Minnesota took an early lead, the Bucks clawed their way back by scoring an early run in the first inning from an Evan Morrison (McPherson) RBI single, and then two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning from Mud Puppies’ fielding errors.

Minnesota scored all of their eight runs before the eighth inning.

For the Bucks, they scored nine of their 12 runs in their final three offensive innings. In the sixth inning, three runs came across the plate with two scoring on a dribbled single off Louisville Cardinal Lucas Moore. Then into the seventh, Luke Finn (East Texas Baptist) singled to score Morrison, and a few batters later Cole Smith (Southeastern CC) hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score yet another.

The biggest inning was when four came across in the bottom of the eight. After three straight walks, Luke Finn found himself in a bases-loaded situation and he showed up big. A bases-clearing triple that was corked into the deepest corner of Riverfront Stadium sent the base paths into a frenzy and the score to 11-9 in favor of Waterloo. Finn would later score himself on a wild pitch to secure the twelfth and final run.

Chaney Trout (Eastern Illinois) came in got the final three outs of the ninth and sent the Bucks home with their third win in a row.
Waterloo and Minnesota play again tomorrow for the final game before the all-star break as the Bucks look to keep up their winning ways. The first pitch from Riverfront is set for 5:05 PM
