Duluth, MN – In Game Two between the Bucks and Huskies, pitching started as the most important factor, but as the contest went on, the Bucks’ offense came alive and propelled them to an 11-8 victory.
Evan Morrison (Grand Valley State) for the Bucks started the game with six strong innings only allowing two runs and five hits. Still, when the two runs scored for the Huskies in the bottom of the fifth, the Bucks already had two runs from the top of the inning when Marcus Heusohn (UIC) scored two of his teammates on a single.
In the seventh, both teams offensively put up three runs to match each other and keep it close. The Bucks got their three runs from a Cole Smith (Southeastern CC) two-run triple, and Lucas Moore (Louisville) scored on a wild pitch a few batters later.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Huskies scored three more runs for their side and it looked like the home team might go out and sweep the Bucks as they lead 8-5 headed into the ninth.
In the top of the ninth, the Bucks got into the head of their opponents, scoring six runs of offense all coming from either singles, errors, wild pitches, or walks and that was all that was needed as no runs were scored in the bottom of the inning that allowed the Bucks to even the final series against Duluth.
Waterloo heads to Thunder Bay, Ontario, tomorrow to start their final series of the regular season, with the first pitch from Port Arthur Stadium coming at 6:35 PM.
