Thunder Bay, ON – The Waterloo Bucks are looking to end their 2024 season on a high note and they showed why they are doing just that in a 15-6 victory over the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
The Bucks’ offense started their offensive engines in the top of the second inning by placing a four spot in the score column. It started with a two-run single by catcher Charlier Bogue (Wisconsin-Whitewater). The next batter, Ricky Requejo (USAO) hit a sacrifice fly scoring Luke Finn (East Texas Baptist) to push the Bucks by three. The final run of the inning was thanks to a Daniel Bentivegna (Edgewood College) single and the Waterloo lead extended to 4-0.
In the third and fourth innings, Thunder Bay scored a combined five runs as they tried to make it a close game, but the Waterloo run factory didn’t close in these innings either. In the top of the fourth inning, two more runs came across thanks to a Marcus Heusohn (UIC) sacrifice fly and an Evan Morrison (Grand Valley State) RBI single.
The score would remain tied at six all after Thunder Bay scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Thunder Bay would stop their offensive fight after this inning.
In the seventh inning, the Bucks added four more runs on a multitude of wild pitches, singles, hit-by-pitches and that’s not the end. In the top of the ninth inning, the Bucks score five runs on six hits to bring their daily total to 15 runs and 14 hits against the Border Cats.
The final game of the 2024 season is set for August 10th at Port Arthur Stadium between the Bucks and Border Cats. Catch the first pitch coming at 6:35 PM.
