Waterloo, IA – On Thursday, May 29, at Riverfront Stadium, the Waterloo Bucks defeated the Duluth Huskies by the indomitable score of 15-1 to claim their first series win of 2025, taking the fourth and final game of the set for their third victory of the year.

With their 14-run triumph, the Bucks posted their largest margin of victory since their 16-2 win over the Willmar Stingers on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Bill Taunton Stadium. Waterloo last defeated a team by 14 or more at Riverfront Stadium when they beat the Mankato MoonDogs 20-3 on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

In his first game of the season, right-handed pitcher Chris Peterson earned the win, pitching six and two-thirds scoreless innings while allowing only five hits and two walks and striking out six.

Five Bucks drove in runs, including Ethan Rossi (3), Will Johnson (2), Parker Sweeney (2), Ian Halverson (1) and Jake Bechtel (1).

Waterloo collected a season-high 13 hits in total. Halverson (3), Johnson (3) and Rossi (2) all logged multi-hit performances, and Johnson, Larry Edwards and Kinnick Pusteoska all doubled.

Righty reliever Tyler Glowacki allowed the only run of the night to the Huskies, giving up an unearned run to Duluth in 1.1 IP with three punchouts. Fellow righty arm Brandon Rice finished the game with a scoreless ninth inning. After tonight, Waterloo’s bullpen has now gone 16 straight innings without allowing an earned run to start the season.

Rossi and Johnson each scored three runs on the night while Marcus Heusohn and Jimmy Nugent both scored twice.

The Bucks make their first road trip of the year starting tomorrow as they take on the Mankato MoonDogs at ISG Field at 6:35 pm (CDT) tomorrow, Friday, May 30.
