Rochester, MN – The Waterloo Bucks won their fourth consecutive game to complete a perfect 3-0 mark on their first road trip of the season with a 15-5 triumph over the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field on Sunday, June 1.
With the score tied at three, the Bucks hammered out half their season-high 16 hits in the top of the seventh to put up their largest offensive frame of the season with eight runs. From there, Waterloo never looked back.
Tying the season-high for their most runs in a single game with 15, the Bucks have now totaled 53 runs in their last four contests, shooting them into second place for runs scored in the NWL at 70.
Five Waterloo hitters drove in multiple runs as Jimmy Nugent led the way with a three-run homer in the eight-run seventh. Ethan Rossi, Kinnick Pusteoska, Brody Leyboldt and Ian Halverson all knocked in two. Sam Finn and Jake Bechtel both punched in one.
Leyboldt and Caleb Parker led all bats with three hits apiece. Nugent, Halverson and Finn all added in two hits. Rossi, Pusteoska, Parker Sweeney and Jake Slade collected one hit each.
The Bucks mashed five extra-base hits tonight, tying their season high from Friday’s 14-1 victory over the Mankato MoonDogs.
Luke Riggs got the win out of the bullpen, and Tyler Glowacki led all pitchers with five strikeouts in just 2.1 IP.
For the second time in as many starts, southpaw Eli Pillsbury earned three Ks and hurled more than four innings en route to a Bucks win.
Waterloo meets Rochester again tomorrow, June 2, at Riverfront Stadium with first pitch slated for 6:35 pm (CDT).
