Rochester, MN – The Waterloo Bucks beat the Rochester Honkers for the sixth consecutive time this season with a 13-6 win at Mayo Field on Tuesday, June 10, claiming their fourth straight victory.

With this triumph, the Waterloo Bucks now improve to 13-3 to secure the team’s best start since 2009 (the last year data is available).

Bennett Fryman homered twice in the contest for the second time this season, driving in a game-high three runs in the process. He now becomes the last Buck to homer four times in three days since Peyton Williams accomplished that feat with four long balls between August 4-6 in 2020. Williams went on to tie Zach Daeges as the single-season home run king in Waterloo with 13 big flies while playing in only 33 games that year.

Chris Petersen locked down the win to advance to 2-0 with his second quality start of the year in only his third appearance with the Bucks. The righty from the University of St. Thomas produced 6 IP with a Waterloo single-game season-high 8 strikeouts. In his outing, Petersen allowed a single run, surrendering a mere three hits and three walks.

The squad tied its season-high for hits in a game, earning 16 knocks in the contest for the third time this year. Larry Edwards led all bats by collecting three hits. Edwards also stole three bags, putting him in a tie for the most steals in the Northwoods League this year at 18. The McNeese State University outfielder also became the fastest Buck since 2009 (the last year data is available) to swipe 18 bags in a season, attaining this result in just 15 games.

Waterloo gets the day off tomorrow but picks back up on Thursday, June 12, in Duluth for a 6:35 pm (CDT) match with the Huskies at Wade Stadium. This next stretch of the schedule features the Bucks playing each of the next 32 days following the one-day hiatus.
