Duluth, MN – The Waterloo Bucks bounced back to split the series against the Duluth Huskies with an 8-5 win at Wade Stadium on Friday, June 13.
With the score tied at five in the top of the seventh, Caleb Parker calmly walked to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in hopes of giving the Bucks the lead. Behind in the count 0-2, Parker drilled a line drive into left-center field to split the gap for a double, clearing the bases and putting Waterloo ahead 8-5. Neither team scored another run for the rest of the contest.
The Bucks commenced the scoring in the top of the second with an RBI single to the opposite field off the bat of Mack Brousseau who finished the day with his first multi-hit game of the season. Owen Ross then knocked in a run on a single to the right side, and Larry Edwards doubled to drive in two, cementing the largest inning of the day for either side at five runs.
Konner Entz earned his second victory of the year out of the bullpen, pitching two scoreless frames in the sixth and seventh innings with only one walk and one hit allowed while striking out three. Tyler Glowacki also tallied a punchout in a scoreless eighth inning, and Logan Boenker shut the door in the ninth, picking up two strikeouts and the save.
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 14, the Bucks travel to La Crosse to take on the Loggers for a battle to decide who will take sole possession of first place in the Great Plains East Division. First pitch is slated for 6:35 pm (CDT).
