Waterloo, IA – The Waterloo Bucks defeated the Rochester Honkers 6-2 on Tuesday, June 17, at Riverfront Stadium, remaining tied for first place in the Great Plains East Division.

In their ninth meeting against the Honkers this season, the Bucks won their eighth contest against their Great Plains East Division rival.

Chris Petersen led the way for Waterloo on the mound, throwing fewer pitches in this outing than in any of his other appearances for the year while extending himself for seven scoreless innings — the longest outing by any Buck so far this season. The righty hurler allowed just four hits and two walks on the day while striking out four. This start marks Petersen’s third quality start of 2025, giving him half the team’s total for the year.

Ethan Rossi led all hitters with two runs batted in on the evening with a double that split the gap in left-center in the fourth inning to put the Bucks ahead by four. After Larry Edwards doubled home a run in the bottom of the first, the Bucks never looked back. Edwards finished the game with the only multi-hit performance of the day for Waterloo, drawing a walk, scoring a run and stealing three bases in the process.

Mack Brousseau, Bennett Fryman and Will Johnson all contributed with sacrifice flies. Fryman and Johnson each recorded hits and scored runs with the former doubling down the left field line in the bottom of the fifth and the latter sending a single to center in the seventh.

The Bucks meet the Honkers for the tenth time this year tomorrow, Wednesday, June 18. Juan Reyes of the Bucks will take on Beau Alazaus of the Honkers at Mayo Field in Rochester, MN, at 12:05 pm (CDT).
